Greece launches the ACT NOW. SAVE A LIFE public campaign. We have prepared a TV and a Radio spot, leaflets and posters to inform people about the heart attack and the need to act quickly. The public campaign will have a country-wide projection and we are finalizing our co-operations to ensure its wider promotion to the public.
In the last couple of years, Stent Save a Life Greece has succeeded in organizing a hospital network in Attica as well as southwestern Greece. The team is continuing its efforts to inform doctors and hospitals about the importance of the initiative and the goals the program is trying to accomplish. As a result, the primary pci rate has risen to 20% countrywide. The most significant regional increase has been registered in Attica, representing almost 50% of the total population, with an increase of 40%.
In 2011, a milestone year for Greece, Stent Save a Life managed to establish the national registry, which was launched in September through a web based questionnaire for easier and quicker access. The registry’s aim is to gather all cases of patients with ACS in Greece in order to investigate patient management and treatment, system delays and annual progress.
In September of 2011, the Stent Save a Life Greece Task Force was formed. The first meeting was held on October 21st together with the Steering Committee. All members enthusiastically embraced the initiative and resolved to take immediate action.
